Capabilities & Technologies :
History of Technology

Technological Innovation
Since Nypro's founding almost 50 years ago, we have differentiated ourselves in our market through unique technological solutions. In the 1950's, Nylon Products was the leader in molding engineering materials. During the 1960's, Nypro became the first custom molder to integrate automation systems at the press and create cell manufacturing systems. In the 1970's, Nypro was the first molder to build clean room molding environments to service our healthcare and pharmaceutical customers. The 1980's saw Nypro standardize on closed looped microprocessor molding machines and robots on every molding machine, and in the 1990's we developed a strong capability in multi-shot molding and in-mold decoration (IML/IMD). Today, we have over 100 machines in production using these technologies. Our continued investment in technology development ensures that Nypro will continue to provide unique solutions for its customers.

Engineering Services
Our Engineering Services group provides worldwide support in CAD services, tool engineering, assembly and automation development, program quoting and process engineering. CAD services provide unique product design and tooling solutions, design for manufacturability, Mold Flow and Mold Cool services. Our Tool Engineering group supports program management by managing mold builds with our in-house and outside approved mold shops. Our Automation Development group provides unique decoration, contract manufacturing, assembly and automation solutions. This group manages the design and sourcing of many complex and high-speed automation systems, many with costs exceeding $1 million. Our Process Engineering group is based in our new state-of-the-art Advanced Technology Center in Clinton, Massachusetts. This technology center is networked with Nypro's other regional technology centers, providing new mold process development, turn-key manufacturing work cell integration, new technology development and process engineering support.

A Leader in Technology
Maintaining this heritage, Nypro today offers a Corporate Technical Center, built and equipped in 2004 at a cost of about $15 million, at its Clinton, Massachusetts headquarters. Several specialized Technical Centers also operate in different parts of the world. Technology is given a focus through a Corporate Vice President of Engineering and Technology, whose staff includes a number of technology experts who keep Nypro on the leading edge.
