Nypro Kanaak is a
diversity supply joint venture between Nypro Inc. and
Sealaska Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation created by the
Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971. Nypro Kanaak is a full-service
plastics manufacturing company that provides high-quality products and services
with the benefits of diversity supply. Nypro Kanaak offers world-class
solutions in a variety of markets through three ISO certified facilities in
Iowa, Alabama and Guadalajara, Mexico.
Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Kanaak Corporation, Sealaska owns 51% of
Nypro Kanaak Iowa,
Nypro Kanaak Alabama and
Nypro Kanaak Guadalajara. Sealaska is owned by more than 17,000 members
of the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian Nations. As an Alaska Native corporation,
Sealaska is a minority business enterprise by federal law, providing diversity
supply status for all of its majority-owned subsidiaries, joint ventures and
partnerships.
The name Nypro Kanaak recognizes the company's Native ownership and diversity
supply status. In the Tlingit language, Kanaak means "people standing
together."
